WELCOME TO ELEMENTARY SOLUTIONS
Welcome to Elementary Solutions. We are recognised experts in all aspects of electronic evidence - computer forensics,
electronic discovery, litigation support software and in-Court presentation. Our mission is to assist you by securing,
processing, producing and presenting electronic evidence and giving expert evidence on matters pertaining to Information Technology.
Electronic evidence encompasses electronic documents and non-documentary ("trace") evidence from computers, networks,
mobile phones, personal digital assistants, modern photocopiers and computer media such as CDs, DVDs, floppies, memory sticks and backup tapes.
Electronic evidence also includes paper documents, files, books, plans, photographs and sound recordings converted (scanned or digitised) into
electronic format so that it may be managed using litigation support software such as Concordance or Summation.
Elementary not only offers the broadest range of electronic evidence services in New Zealand, but we have the strongest
electronic evidence collection and analysis capabilities in the country - bar none.
There are several unique aspects to our practice. We are the only computer forensic practice in New Zealand engaged in
academic research. Our owner and principal consultant, Daniel Ayers, holds Honours and Masters degrees in Computer Science
and has 26 years experience in IT with eleven years experience giving expert evidence - making him the most qualified computer
forensic expert in the country.
While we have the usual commercially-available forensic tools (EnCase, FTK v2, etc) Elementary is the only New Zealand practice
developing and using its own computer forensic software. This means we are not constrained as our competitors are by the capabilities
of commercially available tools, but instead we can develop software with enhanced capabilities and to address your particular requirements.
Our computer programming experience means we are the only major forensic practice in New Zealand able to give expert evidence on software
development issues such as plagiarism or software faults.
Our unique capabilities regularly help win both criminal and civil cases. We find evidence the others miss and can interpret
computer data that fools our competitors and law enforcement analysts. Using our own software we can search hundreds of computers
in several hours or quickly prepare a detailed reconstruction of past activity on a computer. We are the only practice in New Zealand
able to undertake a forensic analysis of (certain models of) multi-function photocopier/FAX/printer units.
Don't be fooled by big brand names. Elementary is a small company, but our skills and capabilities exceed those of any of our
competitors in the New Zealand market.
Elementary has substantial resources at its disposal. Our Auckland computer forensic laboratory boasts eleven servers - more
than in most law firms. We can process large assignments very quickly using our fifty-processor forensic computing cluster - meaning
we can divide up a big job and distribute it across a large number of computers. Our online evidence storage capacity exceeds 15 Terabytes -
15,000 Gigabytes, or the equivalent of 375 average (40Gb) desktop computers. We operate nationwide and have a multiple sets of
mobile computer forensic equipment on permanent standby in case we are asked to urgently respond to multiple locations,
such as when we assist with the execution of Anton Piller orders.
